Let's not get too excited about DeBrusk, and his "down year.". Remember the Andreas Johnsson deal? He had a down year for the Leafs, and everyone thought he'd be a great fit for us. Now everyone's hoping Seattle takes him.
I think Carolina & Toronto can present the best package. Not a fan of the mock Islander returns (big no thanks on Bellows).
I go back and forth on DeBrusk. He fits in with our timeline & could theoretically provide some much needed middle-six scoring. But he requires a protection slot in the expansion draft & it seems like we're starting to have more misses than hits when it comes to bringing in change of scenery type players.
It's hard to find, but I hope that Fitz is prioritizing getting someone in return who is younger but can play in the lineup now as opposed to a straight futures deal. DeBrusk has had a tough year but if he's really on the table I'd be jumping to get him.
