Does Gusev even get back in the lineup? He doesn’t deserve to based on his play.

It looked like Palmieri joined the Hughes line at some point in the second period... was there a difference between that line with Bratt vs w/ Palmieri?

I am a little confused. Maybe my childhood memory is betraying me. I was reading 10 take aways on the devils home page on the NHL app. After last nights victory they claim that is the first time the devils won 3 straight in MSG in club history.

Am I going nuts, but does anyone remember a stretch of time from like 97-2004 when the rangers did not beat us in a single regular season game for 7 years? And this is back in the day when you played within division at least half a dozen times to maybe 7.

Maybe there were some ties in that 7 year span since this was prior to shoot out?

yeah, they showed the numbers on the broadcast - they did have a few runs in that time where they didnt lose in a long span at the garden, but there were a bunch of ties involved.

i am so pumped that we get to play them 6 more times this year. i dont want to get too cocky, but it would be fun to stick it to them and take a whole bunch of points.

I agree that Lafreniere hasn’t been good, but he might be dealing with the same adjustment as Hughes did last year. He had nothing to prove in the Q, and he seemed ready to play in the NHL. But he’s not McDavid or Matthews, who were ready to dominate right away (and even they have some things to learn at this level). If this continues into next year (as a devils fan, I won’t complain), there is more cause for concern. Chances are he makes some of the same strides Hughes has so far this year.

Great write up Todd as always. How would you set the D pairs once the roster is healthy? How would this look: Smith-Severson, Murray-Subban, Butcher-Vatanen with Kulikov being the first guy in if they rotate frequently, which they might have to do with 46 games in like 80 days (barring any other pauses)

With the way kulikov was playing I don’t see him coming out.

Agreed. I think Butcher is the odd man out but is the first man up for when someone gets hurt or scratched.

I thought Lafreniere was supposed to be a generational talent. 1 point in 14 games, and that was 3 on 3.

Nice write up. That Tenny Carrick paring was scary bad. I do like Carrick and he made a few plays. But I can’t see him playing over anyone other than Tenny.

Carrick surprised me on the offensive blue line last night. He wound up to take a shot and he actually made a great fake shot pass to a forward that wasn’t ready for it. Was actually a great scoring opportunity. Didn’t think he had the vision for a play like that. Kid is still young. But I will make a 180 from the first two games and say Tenny needs to sit now.
