Curious what a piece like this would say about Graves. I liked him quite a bit when he was sheltered by Dougie, and don't think he's *bad* now, but he also doesn't *look* quite as good as the narrative/Devils Twitter tells us he is.
He’s been here his whole career. He is a very useful player. The question is it best to trade Damon and give him a change of scenery if we get proper value? Say a Coleman-esq haul like a first and (what we thought was) a high value prospect, or a quality roster player and a high pick, or possibly more.
I'd love to keep him around but it might make more sense age wise to get a haul for him. He's at his peak now and the real question is will he still be at his peak when the Devils are contenders for real. Otherwise the team is about to give a sizeable amount of money to a player that will be on the backside of his career.
Devils absolutely need to not galaxybrain this and pay him over Graves If it comes down to it

Severson is one of the best two-way dmen in the NHL.
I enjoyed this article. He is the oldest tenured devil. Don’t really want to see him go. This article makes me want to keep him more.
