The 2022 NHL trade deadline is just a day away. While the New Jersey Devils have not made a move in the lead up, they do have quite a few players in play for varying reasons.
Which ones will be traded? Which ones will stay put? I’ll take a stab at answering just that.
P.K. Subban
Subban has played pretty well on the 3rd pairing of late. He owns a ~54 xGF% over the last month and has a positive 5v5 goal (+3) differential on a team that can’t get a save.
It’ll be tough for GM Tom Fitzgerald to find him a new home, though. Even if the Devils eat half of his salary, Subban’s cap hit will be at least double what he is worth. At least.
Subban’s trade value is so low that, should Fitzgerald even find a suitor, you could argue the Devils would be better off keeping him so their kids can continue to develop on a strong Utica team.
Prediction: no trade.
