The New Jersey Devils released their full schedule for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday afternoon.
Let’s dive into a few takeaways and things that stood out.
Starting with a bang 💣
The Devils will be put to the test very early in the season.
They open the year with three straight road games, the first two of which come against teams that finished top-10 in wins last year (Carolina and Tampa Bay).
Upon returning home from that difficult trip, the Devils will play host to the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers. You know, the teams who just played for the Stanley Cup in back-to-back years.
Six of the first seven games are against sides who qualified for the playoffs, with five of them cracking the top-10 in wins.
It is an absolute guantlet of opponents and one of the most difficult stretches the Devils will face all season long.
There is no easing into the year. There is no grace period to shake off the rust. If the Devils don’t bring their best from the get go, they’re going to fall behind the 8-ball and be forced to play catchup.
An early measuring stick 📏
