The New Jersey Devils take on the New York Rangers in their second to last preseason game – and it should be a good one.
As you’d expect with the regular season just around the corner, experimental season is over. It’s time to play and get the big boys some reps together.

GAME NOTES
This is a big test for the Meier - Hischier - Holtz line. They have been far from dominant in terms of shot share, controlling only 40% as a trio through two games together. That being said, they hold a 7-2 edge in terms of high-danger opportunities and Holtz has netted a pair of goals. It’s not imperative this line controls the run of play because they have the talent to finish clinically and make the most of their opportunities. That being said, it would still be nice to see. Hischier’s line is always going to see plenty of high-end competition and you don’t want to be getting outshot – even if you get the better of the chances – every single night. I’d like to see more out of this trio in terms of sustaining offensive zone possessions and controlling play. I’m looking at Holtz, in particular. It’s no secret he is the weak link and driving force in terms of the line uh, not driving play.
