It has been an eventful off-season to say the least. While the New Jersey Devils were at the forefront of a lot of the action, they were far from the only Metro team to make changes.

Let’s zoom out and take a quick look at where each side is at.

Carolina Hurricanes: The offense lost juice

The Hurricanes lost a lot of meat off the bone of last year’s team. Teuvo Teravainen piled up 25 goals and 53 points, Stefan Noesen flirted with 40 points, and Jake Guentzel put up 25 points in 17 games down the stretch. A lot of production went out the door and not much came back in.

Jack Roslovic is a solid talent but he didn’t even score 10 goals last year. Neither did William Carrier, who’s had some injury concerns in recent years. Even at their ceilings, those guys won’t match what Teravainen and Noesen produced – forget about Guentzel.

Martin Necas produced 53 points last year after recording 72 the season prior. The Hurricanes need the 70+ if they’re going to remain in a fight for the top seed.
