The New Jersey Devils have a Jesper Bratt problem – and that problem is that they only have one Jesper Bratt. You don’t need me to tell you just how impactful he has been this season; but I’m going to do so anyway.
The 23-year-old winger is having his most productive year to date. He has piled up 32 points through just 34 games – he’s only three shy of a career high! – and leads the team in goal scoring.
Bratt remarkably owns a 58.21 expected goals for percentage at 5v5, which leads the team. That has unsurprisingly resulted in success on the scoreboard. Bratt is +7 in that gamestate for a Devils side that is -17 on the season. So, -24 without No. 63 on the ice.
It’s not just the play driving and point outputs that make Bratt valuable. It’s his ability to lift up literally every player he skates on a line with.
