I think it's neither a smoke screen nor a sign that Fitz would waste such a high pick in this way, but rather more of the same low opinions on Mack. But whatever, let the "opponents suspect" this all day and we'll see what happens on draft day.

could be. kind of like when every year analysts did their playoff picks and New Jersey was *never* listed as a team that will get in...and they always proved everyone wrong.

I think this comment is spot on. No respect for Mack.

I can't see Askarov being more than a smoke screen simply because we have too many other needs and I am in total agreement that Blackwood is more than adequate to be our goaltender for the foreseeable future.

I'm ok with the rumors the Devils are interested in Askarov on the pure basis I think it's possible Fitz is throwing smoke out there. If Askarov is on the board at 7 and someone wants to come up for him, and lets say the Devils are snaked at that point, I'd be ok moving back. Granted, it would have to mean they aren't in love with Perfetti or Holtz, and the draft goes Laf, Byfield, Stutzle, Raymond, Rossi, Drysdale.

Or in the small chance, which I doubt happens, Askarov falls to 18, we could really hold Ottawa up for a handful of their 4 second round picks.

I have a hard time believing, with the amount of holes this team has, that they'll take a goalie.

I'm curious what spot askarov gets drafted at but I cant see the devils taking him over Rossi, Perfetti or Holtz.
