The New Jersey Devils have signed winger Fabian Zetterlund to a one-year contract extension.
It is a two-way deal that will see Zetterlund earn $750,000 at the NHL level and $125,000 at the AHL level; but with $175,000 guaranteed.
The soon-to-be 23-year-old is coming off a remarkably strong season; by far the best of his professional career.
Playoffs included, Zetterlund amassed 26 goals and 60 points in 63 AHL games. He was one of the league’s most efficient producers and shot generators; especially in his age group.
Among all 23&U players, Zetterlund ranked 7th in primary points and 6th in shots per game.
That won’t surprise anybody given what we saw from Zetterlund during his cup of coffee with the big club.
Zetterlund piled up eight points in 14 games, drove play, and was one of the best per minute offensive generators on the roster.
