Johnathan Kovacevic's struggles are cause for concern

Kovacevic has come nowhere close to last year's form since rejoining New Jersey's lineup.

The New Jersey Devils have no shortage of problems right now and Johnathan Kovacevic is moving up the list quickly.

The 28-year-old defenseman has struggled mightily since making his season debut, and last night against the Buffalo Sabres may have been his worst showing yet.

He recklessly tried to hold the offensive blueline and failed to do so, leading directly to the opening goal by Tage Thompson.

Although the 2nd goal came off a Jack Hughes turnover, Kovacevic was unable to clean up that mess at all.

He also took a penalty for good measure and posted a 25 xGF% during 5v5 play. It was a miserable performance across the board. Nothing new, unfortunately.
