With the trade deadline approaching, rumors are beginning to fly. On Hockey Night in Canada last night, Sportsnet's Jeff Marek mentioned that the Vancouver Canucks have interest in New Jersey Devils forward Pavel Zacha:
Elliotte Friedman already linked the Devils to Conor Garland and possibly other Canucks forwards a few weeks ago, so it seems there may be a deal to be had. The Devils have several forwards who have fit the "middle-six" label on their roster and coming up through their system. That's especially true with the recent emergence of Jesper Boqvist.
We've seen flashes from Boqvist in the past, but his play has been more than just flashes of good moments as of late.
A trade between the Devils and Canucks doesn't seem imminent, but if Boqvist keeps up his strong play over the coming weeks, it could make dealing someone like Zacha for a scoring upgrade a much more likely possibility.
