Jack Hughes' production has tailed off of late. He may have some extra pep in his step against Michael Rasmussen and the Red Wings.

A few notes to get you set for Friday’s matinee between the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings:
Looking for revenge 👀
Jack Hughes has gone a little quiet of late – at least in terms of production. While he had a monster three-point game against the Carolina Hurricanes mixed in, Hughes has been held off the scoresheet altogether in four of his past five games. Hughes has also recorded two shots or fewer in three of those games.
A matchup with the Red Wings could be just what the doctor ordered to get an explosive effort out of Hughes.
They rank 28th in shot suppression at 5v5 and on the penalty kill this season. They also give up a ton of volume to opposing centers, allowing 11.86 shots per game on average.
Only the Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, and New York Rangers (lol) have allowed more on a nightly basis. That is not the company you want to be keeping.
Hughes hit the scoresheet and recorded eight shots/16 attempts the last time these two sides met. Unheard of numbers.
If you remember, Hughes was also flattened – and taunted – by Michael Rasmussen on his empty-net goal at the end of that game.
Hughes was less than pleased and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he makes it his life mission to show up Rasmussen and the Red Wings in this game.
A light night in net 🥅
