This has the makings of another high-event game. Both teams play fast-paced hockey and struggle immensely to defend.
New Jersey sits 29th in expected goals against/60 over the last 10 games. Despite all their off-season upgrades, they’re giving up quality chances in bulk.
It’s a similar story in Ottawa; aside from the off-season upgrades part. They’re tied with the Arizona Coyotes for 27th in xGA/60 over the last 10 games.
These aren’t just shot volume issues. Both sides rank bottom-10 in suppressing high-danger chances during this period.
With the young stars each team possesses, there’s definitely enough talent on the ice to make good on the opportunities that should present themselves.
