Could Jacob Markstrom have more to give this season?

Markstrom had a solid debut campaign with the New Jersey Devils but, in some ways, there's room for improvement.

Jacob Markstrom’s first year with the New Jersey Devils was by and large a success.

He appeared in 49 games, posted a 26-16-6 record, was mostly healthy, and helped guide the team back into the playoffs.

Markstrom’s play elevated further when the games mattered most. He was very good in their 1st round series against Carolina, posting a .913 high-danger save percentage and stopping four goals more than expected over just five games.

All things considered, it’s hard to complain about what Markstrom provided the Devils last season.

Could he have even more to give? While perhaps not likely, there’s plenty of reason to believe it’s possible Markstrom’s level of play rises a notch.
